A preoccupation with pipes, Magritte, and the thought that with every gesture of and within representation, reference, or signification in general carries with it limitations of signification itself.
Magritte here provides a departure to reiterate the arbitrary nature of the sign; While I may attempt and attend to one meaning, it's important to have a reminder that at the same time I don't tend to that meaning at all, but either all meanings or none (most often both).
